Social Security Disability

If you are unable to work because of an injury or illness, you may be entitled to Social Security Disability Benefits.  Social Security Disability is a program set up for people who have an established and steady work history.  A person must have worked five out of the past ten years to be eligible to apply for Title II benefits.

If you have not worked in the past five years chances are you will receive a technical denial from social security indicating that you have insufficient quarters of coverage.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a federal welfare program set up for individuals who are disabled and do not have the necessary quarters for coverage.

To qualify for these benefits, you must be unable to work any job and your injury must last for at least one (1) year. If you qualify, you would be eligible for wage benefits and if you have been disabled for more than thirty-three (33) months, medical benefits.
